About Us
SupportingU are a specialist environmental engineering company in Air Quality. We offer Service and maintenance contracts, Data Management, Local Site Operation, Complete systems and workshop repairs.
We are comprised of highly skilled engineers with a wealth of experience in the industry and pride ourselves in offering the highest levels of service at a competitive rate.
Not being tied to any one principle or being driven by new equipment sales targets, we offer truly independent advice on all manufacturers analysers and systems. With extensive experience on equipment from manufacturers such as API, Monitor Labs, Environment SA, R&P, Met One, Thermo Electron and Horiba, we are able to offer a single source contract where otherwise multiple companies may have been involved.

SU is made up of a team of passionate and enthusiastic individuals who are proud to be making a difference to the air quality industry. We work hard as a team to ensure that we offer our customers the highest levels of service whilst providing best value at the same time. Rather than present you with a “Rouges Gallery” of everyone in the company we thought you’d rather get to know some of the key people who drive the business a little better. David MacKay - Managing Director
Some eight years ago after becoming increasingly frustrated with the inconsistent service being provided within the Air Quality industry I started SupportingU with the goal of making service a business in its own right not an after thought. From those early beginnings I have managed to assemble a team of people with whom I am genuinely proud and who share the same vision and drive to deliver for our customers the very best service and support.
After a quick flirtation with being a photographer I trained as an electronics engineer. After college I worked extensively in instrumentation accruing over twenty years experience of the service and customer support industries from end to end. During my time as Test and Development Manager at Monitor Europe, I engineered the relocation of the entire production floor responsible for producing Monitor Labs analysers from the US to Glasgow, making me one of the most knowledgeable people globally on the ML range.
I see the past eight years simply as a beginning, there are always new things to learn and new challenges to overcome as my team and I strive to make SupportingU all it can be.
Karen Wyatt - Operations Manager
Since being with SupportingU I have worked in most areas of the business affording me a great understanding of all areas of the company. I have invaluable experience managing the office and engineering staff. My process driven nature has allowed the business to work smartly and efficiently with repeatable results.
In my current role as Operations Manager I am responsible for ensuring that all areas of the business exceed customer expectations. I would even say that this has been my main source of motivation and has been the platform in which I have built my previous career before moving to SU.
Before SU I had a longstanding career with the largest imaging company in the world. I ran the team which managed all of the government contracts. This left me with a transferable set of skills which I bought to SupportingU. I’m looking forward to the future with SU. We have lots in the pipeline and I have no doubt that we will continue to provide the highest levels of support that our customers deserve.
Jonathan Young - Service Manager
SupportingU contacted me two years ago looking to recruitment me as their service coordinator. I was of interest to SU due to my vast experience in project management. At the time I was working for retail fitting company and my role was to project manage the refits of retail giants like M&S and Abbey National. Initially I was unsure about being headhunted but it was the best decision of my career so far.
I believe I have excelled within SU. I redesigned the entire process and methodology in the way we deal with call-outs. We are now the most efficient service company in the industry and I’m proud to say I was instrumental in that.
I enjoy the diversity of working with local authorities as well as ERG, AEA and DEFRA as it allows me to be a key component in the world of air quality.
I am proud to be a member of the SU team and feel like a big part of the future. I pride myself on a high level of customer service, project management and the drive to achieve great things. In recognition of my work I was promoted to the role of Service manager in 2011
Richard Wyatt - Sales Manager
I’ve been with SupportingU since 2008 and it’s been a fantastic opportunity to grow alongside the company. I brought a wealth of experience to SU following a career in sales and management that spanned over 10 years.
In life before SU I worked for some of the most recognised blue chip companies in the world. My specialty was in the communications industry but I also worked in the print and office supplies arena. Five years ago I decided that I needed a new challenge and moved to SU. Making the transition to the air quality industry was very exciting as it meant that I would be operating in a completely new market place with a different style of customer. I have bought a customer-centric style of sales to SU ensuring that the customer is at the heart of all we do. It’s a key driver for me that we not only provide a service that fulfils the customer’s requirements but also offers them best value.
We have achieved some great things in the last few years including winning the service contract for the LAQN and launching our own air quality enclosures. We are now a formidable force in the industry and continue to grow from strength to strength. It’s a very busy time for SU and I’m excited about the next 5 years.

Service
Service is our business, not just after sales.
Our company is built around providing both the very best quality service and the most competitive pricing within the industry. We find achieving these two goals to be mutually compatible. Quality service minimises call-out and unscheduled visit rates which in turn significantly reduce the cost of delivering service and improves data integrity. We provide service to a number of key accounts such as the LAQN for Kings ERG and Clearflow for DEFRA. We are the premier service provider in Greater London counting some 70% of London Boroughs as customers. In the UK we provide service to 33% of direct Local Authority funded sites.

Data
At SupportingU we recognise the critical importance data collection, ratification and wider dissemination has in the chain of Air Quality information delivery. We are also acutely aware that a large portion of the ongoing revenue cost of running AQ equipment can be taken up in data provision.
Our approach to the service market over the last eight years has been to increase expectations whilst driving down costs. And SU’s move into data provision promises to continue this trend.

LSO
Not withstanding the importance of choosing service provider wisely and the reassurance that an independent audit may bring the single most important element in the provision of a high quality data set is the Local Site Operator or LSO. The LSO carries out the most visits to site in a year, the response checks they complete out are used to scale the data, the filter changes protect the significant capital investment and they are the eyes and ears of the site and what is happening around it.

Projects
Our projects team are able to provide a wide range of support options from a simple install, through to planning and utility assistance. They are able to liaise with contractors such as power, building and telecoms to ensure they workload for the customer is minimised. A project plan including key expectations from all parties including the customer is agreed before hand minimising the tendency for one small part of the project to fail or hold up what otherwise would have been a well planned and executed install.
When it is a project requirement we are able to deploy complete working systems in a matter of 2 weeks. This included a wheeled trailer enclosure containing both pm10, pm2.5, NOx and MET gear to enable the start of a prestigious multi million pound development in the centre of Cambridge for blue chip development clients such as Microsoft.

Sales
SupportingU are not limited to offering a straight forward service contract. We can offer you a bespoke package from rental/lease options which reduce your assets, to in house repairs at our technical workshop. We also offer a range of reconditioned analysers which are a cost effective and environmentally sound option for monitoring air pollution.
